3/25/24. New Haven Patch: $1.4M Grant Earmarked For City's Career Pathways Initiative: Mayor

“ … enrollment in the “Foundation to a Career in Computers” program, which teaches tech skills including coding, disassembly and reassembly, understanding hardware and software applications, and troubleshooting. Upon completion, students receive a refurbished computer to bring home with Microsoft Office suite.”

10/5/23. CT Insider / New Haven Register: New Haven's Latest Effort to Close Digital Divide Will Help Residents Sign Up For Low-Cost Internet

“A partnership between the New Haven Free Public Library, Elm City Communities and CfAL for Digital Inclusion will allow CfAL, a local technology education nonprofit, to hire four part-time staff who will conduct outreach and help people sign up for the Affordable Connectivity Program. The ACP is a federally funded program that gives eligible households up to $30 a month to put toward internet services and a one-time discount of $100 to put toward a laptop, desktop computer or tablet if they contribute $10-$50 to the purchase.”

*NOTE: The federal government has ended funding for the ACP as of April 2024 and this program is no longer ongoing.

10/4/23. New Haven Independent: Internet Access Plan Embraces The Market

“As Elicker and Mack explained on Tuesday, the city plans to use this federal grant money to contract with the local nonprofit CfAL for Digital Inclusion, which will hire four staff members to do outreach and run sign-up programs for the existing ACP internet subsidy through June 2025.”

“Most of us can’t imagine life without a computer, and the skills needed to effectively navigate the internet. “They come to us because they don’t have the funding to buy a computer or attend a computer class, so we are providing a lot of that for free,” said Tesha Tramantono-Kelly, Executive Director of Concepts For Adaptive Learning.”

7/27/22. Global Newswire: BM Technologies (BMTX) Sponsors Program with Concepts for Adaptive Learning (Also Known as TechKno), Highlighting ESG Efforts

“BM Technologies, Inc. (BMTX) today announced that it is a sponsor of the Concepts for Adaptive Learning (also known as TechKno) “build your own computer” program. As a program sponsor, BMTX donated 60 laptops to be used for students to build their own computers and gain new technology skills. The New Haven Free Public Library, also a sponsor, hosts the program from July 15th to July 25th.”

7/1/21. WTNH - Chanel 8: Community programs are working to help kids build skills for the future

“Violence is at a fever pitch across Connecticut. There are organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven that is working to keep youth involved in an active learning environment. “They get a wide array of programs from athletes to arts and crafts to a bit of summer academics and we also have special program partners,” said Won Jung, director of programs at the Boys & Girls Club. That partner is a local non-profit organization. It’s called “Concepts for Adaptive Learning”. Today, their instructors are teaching teens how to code a robot.”

2/25/20. New Haven Independent: New Farnam Computer Lab Aims At Digital Divide

“CfAL, which has done computer training for kids and adults since 2001, partnered will the Elm City Innovation Collaborative to expand its programming and digital literacy services to the Fair Haven neighborhood with the new lab.”

2/25/20. New Haven Register: New Haven computer lab aims to spread digital literacy to underserved neighborhood

“A new computer lab is opening at the Farnam Community Center, with a goal expanding programming and services to the residents of the Fair Haven neighborhood, according to a release. The lab is made possible through a partnership with Concepts for Adaptive Learning, or CfAL, a project of Elm City Innovation Collaborative, according to the release. CfAL provides technology training and digital literacy programs to low income families, the release said.”
