Are you familiar with technology and want to help others?  Consider becoming a CfAL volunteer!  

Your time is valuable!  We are looking for volunteers to support two areas:

  • Support adults in our virtual computer lab, known as HOLA!


  • Mentors teens in Tech4Teens program!

All CfAL volunteer positions are virtual.  Volunteers MUST be 18 years of age or older, and agree to a background check.

Support Adult Tech Learners

Through HOLA!, CfAL's virtual computer lab, indviduals can request LIVE one-on-one technical support to help build their computer skills. 


Most visitors to HOLA! are beginner computer users, requesting additional support on how to create resumes in Word, create PDFs, use Indeed and/or antivirus programs. ​

The goal of HOLA! is to: 

  • Increase support and access to technology training​

  • Provide equal access to service

Volunteer requirements: 

  • Be available during volunteer shifts to answer questions from people who sign on​

  • Comfortable with providing computer and basic technical support virtually to adults​

  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Platform, antivirus software, and/or Adobe

  • Commit to a weekly two-hour shift through June 15, 2021 

Volunteers can sign up for two-hour time slots Monday through Thursday.  Available time slots are: ​​

  • 9:00 am to 11:00 am

  • 11:00 am to 1:00 pm​

  • 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm​

  • 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (Tuesdays ONLY)

Mentor Teens in Tech4Teens

CfAL's Tech4Teens program empowers youth to share their passions by creating websites, videos, photoediting and throough coding projects.  Teens meet every Wednesday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm to learn new skills and work on their "passion projects".  

Volunteer mentor teens and help them develop skills and projects.  Volunteers must agree to a background check.  

The goal of Tech4Teens is to: 

  • Empower teens to use technology ​

  • Provide equal access to technology development programs

Volunteer requirements: 

  • Be available on Wednesdays from 2:00pm to 3:00pm to attend group meetings with teens and instructors.

  • Working knowledge in any of the following areas:

    • Website development (Wordpress)​

    • Video or photo editing

    • Basic coding

  • Be able to commit to volunteer through June 30, 2021 

NOTE: This position is ideal for college students and may be eligible for college fieldwork hours and/or credit.

CfAL Volunteer Requirements:
To become a CfAL volunteer, you don't have to be a tech just have to be "tech savy"!
Basic volunteer requirements:
  • Proficient in any technology programs (MS Suite, Google Platform, etc.)
  • Proficient in English  - and additional language is helpful!
  • You must be at least 18 years old​

  • You must agree to a background checked​

  • You will be required to complete training (volunteer requirements, Sexual Harassment Training, Mandated Reporting Training, etc._

  • Volunteers MUST always keep their cameras turned on.​

  • All sessions (main room and breakout rooms) will be recorded and kept on file for 7 years.
